Resource Information System (RIS) is a personal computer based tool for matching farmers requirements for crops with the natural resources. RIS uses include regionali- zation of sub Saharan Africa based on agricultural potential and evaluation of their suitability for farming.

Land Quality Indicators Maintenance of the productive potential of land resources and checking for land degradation is a fundamental element of sustainable land use. Land quality indicators similar to the economic and social indicators to quantify and monitor policy or management actions. The Land Quality Indicators library is georeferenced data base of demand, impact on the land, and likely options representing 340 km2 or 18.5 km by 18.5 km land area.
Agricultural Information System (AIS) AIS combines  models for water balance, yield,  length of growing period  and expert system to evaluate performance of crops. With AIS, user selects a point on the map to get sites profile identifying its capabilities and constraints.  The information on crop suitability thus can be used in requesting germplasm and resource management technology from IITA. This has helped NARS in specifying their environments and has improved IITA's ability to respond with best-bet solutions tailored to local situations.
