Simulation of Agricultural Watershed Systems
Outline for Second Presentation
Your oral presentation should include, but not necessarily be limited to,
the following information. Items marked with an asterisk (*) should also
be included in your written report.
I. Model calibration
*A. Give a brief description of your calibration procedure
B. Identify the parameters changed during calibration
C. Comment on the changes in parameter values required to calibrate
the model
*D. Discuss the effect of hydrologic calibration on sediment
and/or chemical yields
II. Simulation results for the period of record and/or storm events
*A. Present a comparison between actual data and simulated results
(tabular or graphic)
Perform this comparison for all principal model
outputs (such as runoff volume, sediment load, N and P concentrations in sediment
and/or runoff, etc.), providing that the the necessary measurements are available
B. Comment on the differences between observed and simulated results
-- What model outputs show the greatest discrepancy?
-- Have you identified any model assumptions, model
limitations, field characteristics, or possible errors in the data sets that
may have contributed to these discrepancies?
III. Sensitivity analysis
*A. Comment on the sensitivity of simulated results to parameter
value adjustment
-- For what parameters did you perform a sensitivity
analysis, and why did you choose them?
-- Explain what parameters appeared most sensitive
and why
-- What physical processes are primarily affected
by what parameters?
B. Comment on the sensitivity of simulated results to errors in input
data; i.e. how important are estimated values
IV. Other investigations
*A. Comment on the impact of changes in management practices
on simulation results
-- What types of changes in management practices
can be accounted for by your model in some way or other?
-- For what kind of analysis is your model particularly
suitable?
-- For what kind of analysis is your model particularly
unsuitable?
This report is to be submitted on the day of your presentation. It will be
reviewed and handed back for possible corrections. This report is a summary
of your project that the other members of the class can draw upon for future
reference as an example of your model's performance.
